The 3rd ASCIMER Smart City Workshop will take place in Casablanca on the 10th and 11th October and will leverage the participation of the project’s Expert Research Group that will provide their expertise from cities all around the Mediterranean, and from the north of Europe.

The workshop has been organized together by the EIB, ASCIMER and TRANSyT, having as main supporters ZENATA, UfM and the CMI with the collaboration of MedCites. Therefore the subject of the event will be Smart Cities in the Mediterranean Region and more specifically the assessment, implementation and financing of smart city projects. The objectives of the 3rd ASCIMER Workshop are:

  • Improve the project results, particularly the Guides that will include the findings of the third Work-package (Implementation and Governance for Smart City Projects).
  • Review advances, share visions and discuss outcomes with all the involved stakeholders in this kind of projects for the FEMIP region.
  • Innovative approach to gather information on Governance and Implementation for Smart Projects, leading to the elaboration of a guide on those issues for municipalities to use.
  • Municipal Knowledge deepened and mainstreamed on good practices for Smart Projects and on opportunities offered by different IFIs.

ASCIMER (Assessing Smart City Initiatives for the Mediterranean Region) is a 3-year research project supported by the European Investment Bank under the EIB University Research Sponsorship Programme (EIBURS). The overall goal of this research program is to develop a comprehensive framework to help public and private stakeholders to make informed decisions about Smart City investment strategies and to build skills to evaluate and prioritize these kinds of projects, including solving difficulties regarding deployment and transferability.
