Field visit to LebanonField visit to Lebanon ASCIMER visit to Lebanon took place in the month of August 2015, it was a five days visit in which Victoria Fernández and Guillermo Velázquez, visited the main projects and initiatives related to the Smart City development in the cities of Beirut and Baakline, a city located in Mount LebanonChouf District, 45 kilometers southeast of Beirut.

Field visit to Marroco ASCIMER visit to Morocco took place in beginning of the month of June 2015, it was a six day visit in which Prof. Andrés Monzón and Fiamma Pérez, under the guidance of ASCIMER team member Dr. Abdellatif Brini visited the main initiatives related to the Smart City development in the cities of Tangier, Tetouan, Chefchaouen, Assilah and Rabat.

Logo Greate Amman Municipality ASCIMER visit to Amman took place in beginning of the month of March 2015, it was a three day visit in which ASCIMER team members under the guidance of ASCIMER team member Prof. Ali Maquosi visited the main projects and initiatives related to the Smart development of the city of Amman.

 

The main objectives of the visit were: 

  • Retrieving direct information on urban context and urban strategies.
  • Identifying specific needs of the city. 
  • Understanding local complexity in decision-making.
  • Detecting planned projects aligned with a smart vision.
  • Analysing on-site some already identified Smart Projects. 
  • Analysing assessment and evaluation methodologies.

The first Workshop of the ASCIMER project: “Facing the Challenges of a New Era: Smart City Projects” will be celebrated the 16th and 17th of July in La Granja, Segovia.

 

The main objectives of the Workshop are:

  • to learn more about the specific challenges facing cities and how and to what extent can Smart City Projects help to solve them with special focus on Mediterranean cities,
  • to understand the main characteristics of the Smart City initiatives that are being developed and to select the most suitable Smart City Projects for transferability to the Mediterranean area,
  • to gather information in order to create data collecting templates and stakeholder questionnaires for the analysis of key Smart City projects through surveys.
